Furniture shipments in Krasnodar Region double over six years

As part of the 28th UMIDS-2026 International Exhibition, Deputy Governor Alexander Ruppel chaired a meeting of the working group for developing the woodworking and furniture industries.

The meeting was attended by Grigory Gusev, Deputy Director of the Department of Light Industry and the Timber Industry Complex at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation; Dmitry Khmelko, Minister of Industrial Policy of the Krasnodar Region; and representatives of ministries, agencies, and manufacturers.

«Since 2019, furniture shipments in the region have almost doubled, while wood processing has increased by a third. What is more, the capacity of local enterprises allows for a significant increase in production volumes should demand arise. For our part, we are doing our utmost to promote the products of Krasnodar Region manufacturers: we organise their participation in international and federal trade fairs, compile catalogues, and are developing an industrial portal showcasing our enterprises and their areas of expertise. A website is currently under development which will operate as a marketplace, where buyers will be able to purchase products from Krasnodar Region manufacturers online,» said Alexander Ruppel.

Grigory Gusev noted that the development of the woodworking and furniture industries in the region had been made possible by systematic support for businesses, the introduction of new technologies, and the development of cooperation between manufacturers.

«Today we can see that the industry is not only growing steadily, but is also becoming a driving force for related sectors of the Krasnodar Region economy,» said Grigory Gusev.

The meeting focused on cooperation between local producers and representatives of the social and hospitality sectors.

Inna Petukhova, Deputy Minister of Resorts, Tourism, and Olympic Heritage, noted that 66 agreements in the health resort sector, involving investments of over 800 billion roubles, are currently being monitored.

«These agreements will lead to the creation of around 30,000 new jobs and more than 50,000 hotel rooms. Seven investment projects were completed in 2025. Particular attention is being paid to upgrading accommodation stock: 17 facilities are scheduled for refurbishment by 2028, significantly increasing the number of guest rooms and improving the quality of services at resorts in the Krasnodar Region. Importantly, modern hotel and health resort complexes place high demands on the interior design, environmental friendliness, and durability of furniture. Many businesses are already working successfully with local furniture manufacturers,» said Inna Petukhova.

Dmitry Khmelko noted that there are currently around 200 timber processing and furniture manufacturing enterprises operating in the region.

«To promote our manufacturers' products, since 2019 we have been organising joint stands at leading industry exhibitions at international, federal, and regional levels. Over the past seven years, nearly 1,500 enterprises have showcased their products at 180 such exhibitions,» said Dmitry Khmelko.
